, how much play is this getting over in london where you are? >> it's global fascination with the u.s. focused on this issue. they listen to what we say to each other and what we think is important. they're listening with some sense of whimsy with what we're up to. >> general, thank you so much. >>> and speaking of the fbi investigation, i guess, who on capitol hill should have been told, defense secretary leon panetta was asked about that this morning. >> that's another issue that we got to look at. as former director of cia and having worked very closely with the intelligence committees, you know, i believe that there's a responsibility to make sure that the intelligence committees are informed of issues that could affect, you know, the security of those intelligence operations. >> both mike rogers, they're going to press the cia over the time line of the investigation. >> we have rules and laws that specify when you kick these matters up the command chain. we'll find out if those rules were violated. looking at the fbi part of the investigation, if you're the superior of the guy wh

. that information is coming to us from kelly o'donnell who spoke to a veteran senator on capitol hill and, of course, it comes as some tough questions are expected today for president obama. he's giving his first news conference since being re-elected. he will meet the press at 1:0 this afternoon and probably should be prepared to answer some tough questions about general petraeus and allen and the fbi investigation as well as libya, not to mention the fiscal cliff and we're learning more about the woman who knew both general, tampa socialite jill kelley. a senior defense official says the e-mails between the two were more than just calling one another sweetheart, they were flirtatious and unprofessional. both of them wrote letters vouching for her sister in a child custody case and she made this phone call claiming she had some sort of diplomatic status which she does not. >> i am an honorary consul-general so i have unveilability so i should -- they should not be going across my property. but that's against the law to cross my mrort. um, it's involable. >> "the washington post" says there is a new

honestly disagreed with his recollection of what he told us on september 14th. >> not his recollection here. will this just raise more questions? >> i think for republicans it will. i do get a sense there is fishing for a scandal here on the part of republican members of congress. they had been doing that before the election and i think it hasn't stopped since. i think what we know is that there was a straight forward difference between the cia's initial assessment of what happened on september 11 in benghazi and what they later revised that assessment to be. i don't think there is a scandal there. i think you had the cia giving its best initial assessment to dr. susan rice who then gave that assessment to the public on behalf of the white house and then the assessment changed on the part of the cia. i'm not sure what the scandal is but i've heard words like watergate being thrown around which i think goes a step too far and is too political. >> cameras did not catch petraeus arriving this morning even though there were reporters staking out every possible entrance and all we saw was a blac

get to us, we ask you to come and deliver your supplies. one thing we truly need, we need more fuel. >> ben, even if fema absolutely does its job, and there's every indication it is, there could still be images of desperate people come monday, tuesday. i know you'll want to say this is not political, but let me ask you about the implications. is there a possible downside here for the president? >> you know, the president is on this day and night. the administration is on this day and night. he put politics aside and ensured that federal resources were deployed to support this state's response efforts and to ensure that all the victims were taken care of. those resources have been deployed. he's doing everything he can to ensure that the requests from states are met. while he'll be on the trail today, he's still going to be focused on this and going to ensure that the states receive everything that they've requested and everything that they've needed. this is one of the worst storms in our memories. the president's going to make sure that the federal government is very focused on thi

cialis for daily use and a 30-tablet free trial. >>> good morning. i'm chris jansing. we are live from tower city center here in cleveland. i've been covering the obama and romney campaigns here in ohio since friday following both since they barn stormed this state and the country in a last frantic final push. can you believe it's the final full day? well, president obama visiting three states that will make up his firewall today. wisconsin, here in ohio and iowa. mitt romney just wrapped up a florida. now, he's headed to virginia and then back here to ohio. he'll end his day in new hampshire. polls show this race is extremely close. a dead heat nationally. very close in the battleground states. perhaps a very slight advantage for president obama. he seems to have a little bit of momentum going into the final day. well, democrats point to long lines for early voting as a sign of enthusiasm, but republicans say their crowds are bigger and the obama magic from 2008 has warn off. the president's closing argument, a fair shot for everyone and a chance to do even better. >> we've made real

companies like bain capital. they include some of the fortune companies. they use the language of small business to provide tax breaks for wealthy entities. but if you really care about the economy, which we all should, then we e need to look at things like extending the payroll tax cut for the year or its e equivalent. the nonpartisan group has said that's much more important to helping the fragile economy than providing a few folks at the top with another tax break. so we should be looking at those kind of measures that put a little more money in the pockets of 160 million americans who will go out and spend it rather than providing another tax break to those at the top. >> one of the toughest questions, entitlements. are you willing to make cuts in medicare and medicaid and social security? >> well, the issue is how we make those cuts and savings. so we should find savings in medicare. we should do it by building on the economies we have in the affordable care account, which says we should move away from the fee for service system that drives up cost and move toward a system where we

technically remain too close to call. miami-dade county is counting 20,000 absentee ballots they tell us. that's what they're counting right now. that's in miami-dade. that appears to be the largest chunk of vote. if that breaks away the way they're going, it's impossible. i guess nothing's impossible. it's improbable. it looks like president obama is going to get that one too. it'll be 323 electoral votes when all is said and done. but let's go and show you how the president did it, if you will. i want to go to ohio because ohio was a big deal at the time. what was interesting here is where the margins were. it was all margins. this wasn't -- this was reduplicating the map. here's what the county map looks like right now. i'll go to 2008. if anything, he did better in coal country as you can see. and you see the blue goes away over here. romney did what he had to do. he ran up margins here. the problem is right here. it was margins in cuyahoga plus underperforming with white working class men in the auto belt here. these two areas also swing. and those swing areas didn't go for mitt romney as

and income -- as warren buffett reminds us, the effective tax rates for people on top are pretty low. one out of four profitable corporations in this company are not paying a nickel in taxes, losing over $100 billion a year because corporations and the wealthy people are stashing their money in the cayman long islands. the working people of this country say we have to do deficit reduction but don't cut social security, medicare or medicaid. there are ways to move towards a balanced budget which are fair. >> on the other side, talking about the house and particularly house republican, they view the results of this election a little bit differently. a number of them have suggested that in fact the message of this election in electing a house that is still a gop majority is that they don't want taxes raised on the wealthy. >> well, i think the objective facts disagree with that assertion. the democrats gained two seats in the senate, did better than anyone dreamed. the democrats gained more votes in the house, gained a few seats in the house. president obama won a resounding electoral college vi

at it. this may give us a better answer faster. that's ultimately what everybody wants to keep the americans safe abroad and in the future. >> is this part of the mccain and obama conflict from 2008? >> i think mccain -- right after obama was elected in 2008, mccain really extended an olive branch. he was very conciliatory with president obama. president obama campaigned a certain way in 2008, beat mccain talking about reaching across the aisle and didn't do that. so mccain from the get go was saying, hey, you said you were going to work across the aisle. now he's just calling him on the carp elt. no one is more outspoken than senator mccain. >> i want to talk about taxes and the fiscal cliff. the president said he wants taxes to go up on the well think. what's your thought here? what do you make of that? is he leaving room for negotiations on the deductions? >> well, not a whole lot richard. he was basically coming back with what the position had been earlier, using the $250,000 level. well, theoretically he's open to whatever possibility somebody ask come up with, but he cast

voting groups still have a double unemployment rate, the african-american voting race. greg, if u.s. economic senator for the economist, jim, let me start with you been what's your take away from this report? what does it tell us about the status of the jobs market? >> well, it tells us that the jobs market is getting better. it's not getting better nearly fast enough for the 12 million merps who want to find work but can't. but the pace of the recovery appears to be picking up. this is good news. we're seeing increases in the creation rate for private sector employment. we're seeing some sectors, like housing and construction starting to come back that are adding more jobs. these are very good things and signs that, while we're not anywhere close to where we need to be yet, maybe the economy really is starting to get back into that more green zone than a red zone. >> and, jim, one gray cloud in the economic report, and it is frankly what the republicans are poundsing, is what the republicans call the real unemployment rate, 14.6 of% and it includes, as you know, people who have set
